Wolves complete season sweep of Owls in dominant fashion

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Walla Walla completed a season sweep of Oregon Tech with a dominant straight set victory in a Cascade Conference volleyball game on Saturday night.

The Wolves (8-7, 6-6) won by set scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-10. Oregon Tech dropped to 9-10 overall and 3-9 in CCC play. Walla Walla had never defeated the Owls before this season, but WWU won both meetings in 2025 in straight sets.

"It was so fun watching our girls go out and dominate today," Walla Walla head coach Kiana Krumm said. "It was fun and competitive volleyball."

A day after having a career high in kills, Paula Flores had another fantastic performance and she led the Wolves with 17 kills. Sahara Browning had 15 kills, seven digs and five total blocks.

Yamaris Garcia assisted on 36-of-45 kills and finished the weekend with 77 assists. Myckayla Shaver had seven total blocks and Deshy Sandoval had 18 digs.

Walla Walla contained the Owls' offense and no player for OIT had more than five kills. The Wolves had a hitting percentage of .333 as a team and had 45 kills to just 17 for Oregon Tech.

The home team jumped out early and an ace by Lucy Boyd gave the Owls a 10-5 lead. That was when WWU went wild. The Wolves won five of the next six points to get within one before Oregon Tech recovered with two straight.

Browning took a pass from Garcia for the kill to put Sandoval at the service line, where the senior stayed for nine straight points before ending the run with a service error. Walla Walla jumped out to a 19-13 advantage on the run. The Wolves continued the pressure and never lost control in a dominant first set victory. WWU had 15 kills to just one error in the opening set for a team hitting percentage of .500.

Just like the first set, it was Oregon Tech that jumped out early in set number two. The Owls won the first three points, and had an early 7-2 lead. The road Wolves quickly turned the tides and tied the set at 10-10 kill by Flores.

The two teams traded points before WWU went on a four-point run to take a 15-13 lead. The gap grew to seven as the Wolves set up a set point on a block assist by Shaver and Garcia. The Owls survived two set points before Walla Walla closed it out and were one set away from victory.

In the third set, both teams traded blows and the host squad took an early 5-4 advantage. The Pack took over from there with another big run. Flores had four kills as the Wolves won eight straight points and jumped out 12-5. OIT fought to stay in the match and won back-to-back points to make it 16-10, but that was the last time the Owls were able to score.

Walla Walla went on another long run and earned the final nine points as Garcia closed it out with a kill for a big 25-10 final set victory.
