COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — The Walla Walla Women's Volleyball team honored its three seniors before putting No. 5 Corban to the test, but it was the Warriors who came away with a four-set victory on Saturday at Windemuth Court.
The Warriors (21-4, 15-3) locked up a top-two seed with a 25-16, 25-20, 17-25, 25-21 victory over the host Wolves. Walla Walla dropped to 12-9 overall and 10-8 in CCC play and a three-way tie for fifth place with College of Idaho and Southern Oregon.
Sahara Browning moved to within five kills of 1,000 for her career with 15 on the night to lead WWU.
Paula Flores had 13 kills and 11 digs and
Natalia Jimenez had 12 kills for the Wolves.
Yaimaris Garcia set a program single-season record in assists with 31 tonight to push her total to 555. The freshman added 13 digs, six kills and two aces to her stat line.
Emma Bischoff led Corban with 14 kills and added 11 digs. Kaile'a Ontai had 15 digs and Abby Guindy added 23 assists.
Walla Walla topped the Warriors in kills 52-49, but a .266 hitting percentage by the visitors was too much for the Wolves to overcome. Corban had 11 blocks to WWU's six and out aced the home team 6-5.
