COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Walla Walla went toe-to-toe with No. 1 Eastern Oregon in front of nearly 700 fans, but the Mountaineers remained unbeaten with a 25-22, 25-20, 25-13 victory in a Cascade Conference women's volleyball clash on Saturday.
The Wolves (7-4, 5-3) made several rallies in the first two sets to stay in contention before EOU pulled away in the third and deciding set. Eastern Oregon (16-0, 8-0) had a relentless offensive attack with a hitting percentage of .381 and had 39 kills to the 36 from the host Wolves.
Yaimaris Garcia filled the stat sheet once again with another double-double. Garcia led the team with 10 kills and tied with
Olivia Cheek with 13 assists in the match. The freshman added five aces including a stretch where she had four in a row.
Vicky Giardina had 10 digs for Walla Walla.
No player for the Mountaineers reached double-figures in kills as Brooke Womack and Kiera Vaughn led the team with nine each. Ava Semprimoznik had 18 assists and Jaycee Villastrigo had 11 digs for the undefeated visitors.
