Bello reaches 3-pointer milestone in loss to Beacons

EUGENE, Ore.Jaylo Bello made three 3-pointers to surpass 100 in her career, but the Walla Walla Women's Basketball team was unable to earn its first Cascade Conference victory in a 71-46 loss to Bushnell on Saturday night.

Bello connected for her second 3 of the night with 5:37 to go in the game to reach the triple-digit milestone. The sophomore is just the sixth player in program history (since joining the NAIA in 2009) to reach that mark. Bello added one more on the night and finished with a team-high 20 points.

The loss dropped the Wolves record to 2-12 on the season and 0-8 in conference play. Bushnell defended its home court and improved to 5-11 overall and 3-5 in CCC action.

Delaney Gunther added seven points for WWU. Meghan Rasmussen had six points and Brooklyn Coe finished with six points in just nine minutes before an apparent knee injury took her out of the game.

The Wolves made more shots from beyond the arc (nine) than they did inside the arc (six) and shot 26.9% from the field overall. Walla Walla recorded nine steals and scored 14 points off turnovers.

Maddie Gerhart was the only Beacons player to reach double figures in the point column with 13. Sabrina Flowers added nine points as Bushnell had 12 different players score. BU struggled from the field as well and finished with a shooting percentage of 37.5 (27-of-72), but outrebounded the Wolves 55-35.

Walla Walla stayed in the game in the first quarter and led twice in the first five minutes, but injuries and foul trouble made the Wolves play even more shorthanded than they have all season long and the Beacons were able to pull away.
