ASHLAND, Ore. — Still playing shorthanded, the Walla Walla Women's Basketball team struggled on the road in a 91-26 Cascade Conference loss to (RV) Southern Oregon on Friday.
The Wolves (3-16, 1-12) were without their top two leading scorers and only six healthy players for the second consecutive game. Southern Oregon played aggressive defense and took advantage of mistakes to improve to 15-6 overall and 10-3 in CCC play.
Allison Haslam led Walla Walla with 11 points.
Delaney Gunther added seven points and two steals. The other four players for the Wolves (
Maddie Dietrich,
Tessa Duncan,
Sidney Folkenberg and
Natalia Jimenez) each finished with two points. Dietrich led WWU with seven rebounds.
Walla Walla was pressured from the opening possession and committed 44 turnovers that led to 52 Raider points. WWU did take an early two point lead when Gunther opened the game with a basket, but the Wolves were unable to score again until their deficit was already over double digits.
Sage Winslow led Southern Oregon with 17 points. Eliza DiGiulio added 15 points, Gracie Arnold added 13 points and Bridgette McIntyre and Jenika Zurita finished with 11 points each. The Raiders outrebounded WWU 46-35 and scored 44 points inside.
