The Walla Walla University women's basketball team played a home game Thursday evening against in-town opponent, Whitman College.

The Wolves lost the game by a final score of 74-33, and are still searching for their first win of the season.

In the first half, the Wolves were a little unlucky. They had a few open, mid-range shots that just weren't falling. On the other end, Whitman pounded the paint and shot 41% from the field in the first half.

40-16 was the score at halftime, and some of the first half trends carried over to the second half. Whitman kept getting the ball inside, they also made several three pointers that put the game out of reach.

Lauren McCoy had a solid game in 37 minutes of action. She finished with eight points, two steals, and a game high 10 rebounds. Emily Field added eight points of her own, and Michaela Garcia led the team in scoring with 10 points.

Wolves Coach Marnie Johnson said the message in the locker room post-game was perspective.
"This is a very talented, and well coached Whitman team, they played very well." Johnson also said the Wolves are going to keep working towards their team goals. They have three more games coming up before they separate over Christmas break, so these next couple of weeks are going to be important for the team.

Up next for Walla Walla is a home game against Montana State University-Northern (Havre, MT). The game is scheduled for Saturday evening, in College Place at 6:30 p.m.
