Women's Basketball Preview vs Multnomah University

12/17/2015 12:02:00 PM

This is the first year that the WWU women's basketball team will compete in the Cascade Collegiate Conference after being accepted in the spring. The ladies' spirits are high, as MU is currently on a six-game losing streak.

Though the Lions' numbers are down, their hopeful for their first win over MU. WWU's average is 39.4 points per game, and the field goal percentage is .297. However, the recent rebuilding of the team offers new talent room to grow and time to hone in on their skills. Athletes to keep an eye on are freshman Kassidy Kuykendall and junior Janessa Blaser. Kuykendall is currently one of the highest scoring athletes on the team, averaging 6 points per game. Only having played six games of her college career, Kuykendall is learning quick and on the rise. Blaser's height aids in her incredible rebound history, and her positive energy on the court is infectious.

MU won the last game against WWU, 68-65; but it looks like that may change considering their play of 0-3 after opening in the CCC. MU athlete to watch is senior Lexie Govert, as she is a top scorer for the team at 9.6 points per game, and 17 steals.

Either way, it'll be an exciting win for whichever team can finally break their losing streak.
