Box Score Paul Starkebaum, Sports Information Director

College Place, Wash.- The Wolves soccer team has had its struggle this season, but every game there are signs they are improving.  Walla Walla (0-6, 0-6) knew they would be in for a defensive battle against the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College (4-0-2, 3-0-2) as Evergreen has only given up five goals through six matches.  The Wolves responded by playing some their best defense of the season, allowing a season low of four goals on the day.  Josh Fry had another big day with 16 saves, as the Geoducks prevail over Walla Walla 4-0.

Aaron Martinez took the first shot of the game under a minute under the contest.  But the Wolves early momentum would not hold.  Just over five minutes into the match, Jordan Zimmerman scored Evergreen's first goal of a Corner kick from his brother Jake Zimmerman.  Josh Fry and the Wolves defense would lock in at this point.  Josh recorded seven saves before Evergreen would generate its next goal.  "(Evergreen) was the best team we've played this year tactically," Coach Burns Said.  "They moved the ball very well."

Charlie Kramer would find himself open just a few yards out from the net in a one on one situation against Josh Fry for the next goal in the 26th minute.  It was Charlie's third goal of the season.  From there both teams played even for the rest of the half.  Walla Walla's Erick Meija would put two shots on goal before the half was over and Aaron Martinez would have another scoring opportunity for the Wolves, but Walla Walla could not get anything to fall.

Three minutes into the second period, Miguel Viramontes put in a one-touch goal over Josh Fry off a pass from Tino Pantaleon for his second goal of the season.  Evergreen would score their fourth and final goal of the match just 10 minutes later, as Miguel Viromontes found the net again from the top of the box.  Walla Walla put up two more shots in the match, but were unable to score.

Coach Burns was pleased with his team's performance overall today.  "These guys continue to bring maximum effort each minute on the Pitch."  Coach Burns also said that one of their goals today was to keep Evergreen under five goals today, something they were successful at.  "We were 50% on those goals, so I am happy about that."

The Wolves are back on the road next weekend.  They are headed to the Portland area Saturday as they take on Warner Pacific College and then have to head back across the state to play Eastern Oregon University on Sunday.
