2/11/2017 11:33:00 PM

Box Score Paul Starkebaum, Sports Information Director

Kirkland, Wash. – The Lady Wolves were in Kirkland, Wash. this evening to take on the Eagles of Northwest University (13-15, 8-10).  Walla Walla (2-21, 0-17) knew they would be tested on offense tonight against the stout defense of Northwest University.  Wolves fell 39-94 to the Eagles.

By the Numbers
  • Alyssa Blankenship lead the Wolves in scoring with 12 points
  • Sierra Briggs lead the wolves on the boards with 7 rebounds
  • Paige Burson and Kalee Fowler lead the Eagles in scoring with 14 points a piece
  • The Eagles had 17 offensive rebounds for the game and shot 50% from the field

How It Happened
The Eagles did what they do best on offense early in the game, which is working the ball into their post players.  Hannah Carlson hit Miranda Langenhorst for a jumper to put Northwest up 7-0 to start the game.  Sierra Briggs answered a minute later for the Wolves first bucket of the game.  Northwest crashed the boards hard all night, and Hannah Carlson found space in the paint as she went 3-3 from the field early and help build a 20-6 lead over the Wolves.  The scoring woes continued for Walla Walla through the second quarter and they found themselves down 47-16 at the half.  The Wolves have struggled all season in the third quarter, but tonight they broke that trend as they scored 19 in the period.  The Eagles responded by tightening back up their defense, which is one of the top in the nation.  The Wolves were not able to keep that momentum on offense going into the fourth, and lost to the Eagles 39-94.

Up Next
The Lady Wolves will be in Olympia, Wash. tomorrow to take on The Evergreen State College Geoducks.  Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
