Wolves Take L to Geoducks

The Wolves took on Evergreen State this evening and battled back consistently within each quarter. The Wolves kept the fans on their toes by creeping back into the game at the end, but were unable to pull out a win.
 
The Geoducks quickly stole the first basket of the game and Morgan Stanyer soon followed behind with a jumper for the Wolves. Evergreen State grasped the lead throughout the first quarter with Walla Walla following on their heels. With 4 minutes left Emily Downs solidified a jumper for the Wolves,  putting the Wolves within 2 and making the score 15-17. From then the Geoducks scored 5 points, creating a solid gap from Walla Walla going into the 2nd quarter 17-15 Geoducks.
 
The Wolves started off strong in the second quarter with a jumper right away from Emily Downs, followed by a jumper from Alyssa Blankenship but the Geoducks remained ahead 22-21. Jahpera McEachin and Alexcis Higginbotham led the Geoducks on a 6 point run before Sarah Halversen made a layup for the Wolves with 7 minutes left. Carolina Montes fought back with a 7-0 run for the Wolves with a jumper, 3 pointer and a layup. This brought the Wolves within a closer range of Evergreen going into the half, 42-34 Geoducks.
 
Evergreen's Deidra Taylor scored the first 4 points for the Geoducks as the third quarter began, and they continued their climb uphill against the Wolves. Miller, Moss and Kennedy-Williams secured a hefty lead for Evergreen ahead 65-44 at the end of the third quarter.
 
As the fourth quarter began the Wolves crept into the game with an 11-0 run with 9 of the points from Carolina Montes, 65-53 Geoducks. Evergreen kept the lead with baskets from Moss, but the Wolves persisted with a 3 from Montes brining the Wolves within 8 points at 69-61 Geoducks with 1 minute left. Blankenship had a layup with 30 seconds left, but the Geoducks continued to make free throws off fouls from the Wolves. 

The final score was 75-65 Evergreen and the Geoducks were led by Moss with 17 points and Higginbotham with 13 points. Walla Walla's comeback was led by Montes with 20 points, Blankenship with 14 points and 8 rebounds, and Halversen with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Lady Wolves play Evergreen again tomorrow @ 2pm.
