Evergreen Secures Win Against Walla Walla

The Wolves had a slow start to the second quarter, letting the Geoducks get a 5 point lead with minutes left in the half 11-6. Carolina Montes battled back with a 3 for the Wolves, but Walla Walla was unable to stop 8 consecutive points from Evergreen's Jahpera McEachin. The Wolves were down 16-12 with two minutes left in the first quarter, but free throws from Alyssa Blankenship and Sarah Halversen tied the game up 16-16. The Wolves went into the second quarter in the lead 20-18 with 2 consecutive layups from Blankenship in the last 30 seconds of the quarter.
 
Evergreen tied the game up in the first 30 seconds of the second quarter, but Blankenship and Montes would not have it. Blankenship had  a jumper for the Wolves followed by 5 consecutive baskets from Montes with a layup followed by a 3. Kailani Chamberlain added to Walla Walla's lead with her first 3 of the game, giving the Wolves an 8 point lead with 7 minutes left in the half. Evergreen's Kaelin Williams-Kennedy brought the game to a tie with 6 points for the Geoducks, and the score was 32-32 with 4 minutes left. The Wolves would not see the lead for the rest of the half with a Geoducks run of 17-2 and 11 points from Williams-Kennedy. The Wolves went into the locker room down 43-32 to Evergreen at the half.
 
 
Michaela Garcia had the first five points of the second half with a jumper followed by a 3 for the Wolves, 43-37 Geoducks. McEachin and Jones had back to back layups for the Wolves and gained a 12 point lead for Evergreen with five minutes left in the third quarter. Raegan Williams stopped the Geoducks run with a 3 with four minutes left, followed by a layup from Montes. Evergreen continued to keep the lead throughout the rest of the quarter, and Walla Walla heads into the fourth quarter down 7, 58-51 Geoducks.
 
Evergreen the first quarter off strong with a layup from Miller followed by a layup from Kelly, creating a 10 point deficit for the Wolves. The Geoducks had a 14 point lead on the Wolves, but back to back 3s from Michaela Garcia created a 6 point game, 67-61 Geoducks with 4 minutes left. Layups from Jones created a 9 point lead once again for Evergreen, but Montes fought back with two 3s for Walla Walla making the game 77-79 with 1:12 left in the game. Walla Walla persisted with a 3 from Garcia, but the Wolves were not able to slide past the Geoducks in the last minute of the game.
 
The Geoducks remained in the lead after the second half and secured a win in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, winning 79-74. The Wolves were lead by Alyssa Blankenship with 18 points and 6 rebounds and Michaela Garcia with 14 points and 2 rebounds. The Geoducks were led by Cayla Jones with 22 points and 5 rebounds, and Kaelin Williams-Kennedy with 15 points and 5 rebounds as well.
