Men's Basketball: Wolves Fall Twice on Road Trip

OLYMPIA, WA. - Walla Walla was unable to overcome first half deficits against Northwest University (NU) and The Evergreen State College (TESC), dropping both of their matchups this past weekend. 

THE BASICS: 
Final:  Walla Walla 72, NU 98
Records:  Walla Walla (2-17, 1-11 CCC), NU (8-9, 5-7 CCC)
  
 GAME NOTES:

  • The defense struggled in the opening half, as the Wolves allowed NU to shoot 65-percent from the field, leading to a 53-30 halftime lead for the Eagles.
  • The Eagles continued adding to their lead throughout the second half to secure the win.

 PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Tanner Davis scored 18 points to lead the Eagles, as four of five starters scored in double-digits.
  • KiAndre Gaddy lead the Wolves with 18 points. Zayne Browning pitched in with 15 points while Artur Borges Paraizo recorded a career-high 8 assists.

Records:  Walla Walla (2-18, 1-12 CCC), TESC (3-14, 3-10 CCC)
 
 GAME NOTES:
  • The Geoducks shot 55-percent in the opening half for a 40-29 halftime lead, going 7-for-12 from beyond the arc, while the Wolves shot 40-percent on 13-for-32 and shooting 2-for-10 from outside the three-point line.
  • A Kiandre Gaddy layup midway through the second half got the Wolves within five points midway, but the Geoducks built their lead to double-digits again, leading 66-54 at the seven-minute mark.
  • The Wolves rallied over the next couple minutes, as a Caleb Gold triple cut the deficit to 68-64, but the Wolves were unable to get stops on defense and the Geoducks maintained their lead down the stretch to pick up their second win over the Wolves.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Austin Curry led the Geoducks with a 21-point 10-rebound double-double.
  • KiAndre Gaddy scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Wolves. Zayne Browning scored 10 points to keep his double-digit scoring streak alive at 13 games.

Walla Walla hits the road again, traveling to Portland to take on Warner Pacific University and Multnomah University this weekend.
