LEWISTON, Idaho — Walla Walla jumped out to a 13-4 lead, but were unable to match No. 22 Lewis-Clark State in a 71-48 Cascade Conference loss.
The Wolves dropped to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in CCC action with the loss at the P1FCU Activity Center on Tuesday.
Chariah Daniels recorded her fourth consecutive double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. The senior added four assists and three steals to her stat line.
Freshman Jaylo Bello hit four 3-pointers and finished with 13 points. Sophomore Natalee Trevino had eight points and senior Jordan Green-Wallace added six points and eight rebounds.
Walla Walla outrebounded the Warriors 39-35 and held LC State to 3-of-18 (16.7%) from beyond the arc. The Wolves shared the ball with 13 assists on 17 made field goals.
"I thought we really competed in the first and third quarter," Walla Walla coach Tony Nakashima said. "Their length and athleticism gave us trouble, but we got to learn from this game and continue to get better."
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a bucket by LC, Daniels got the scoring going for the Wolves with a shot inside the paint. Another score by the Warriors gave the home team an early advantage, but then the freshman took over.
Bello hit back-to-back 3s and added a free throw to go on a personal 7-0 run. Green-Wallace connected with a jumper and Daniels added two more and Walla Walla jumped out to an early nine point lead.
The No. 22 in the NAIA did not go quietly and scored 17 of the next 19 points to go into the quarter break with a 21-15 lead.
LC State expanded the lead to double-digits early in the second quarter. Walla Walla responded with a layup by Allison Haslam and two baskets by Daniels to cut the lead to four. The Warriors would close out another quarter strong with a 14-2 run and the Wolves trailed by 16 at halftime.
Trevino hit two 3-pointers and a jumper in the third quarter for all eight of her points. Bello connected from beyond the arc and Sidney Folkenberg added a layup. Walla Walla matched the Warriors in the third quarter with 13 points apiece.

Walla Walla will travel to Olympia, Wash. to face the Geoducks of Evergreen State at noon on Dec. 6. The Wolves then travel to Kirkland, Wash. to take on Northwest University at 7 p.m. on Dec. 7 as CCC play continues.
