Wolves Get Involved in Walla Walla Communities

College Place, Wash. – On Friday, May 5, athletes from across the Wolves Athletic program spent the afternoon volunteering their time to work at several different projects across the Walla Walla Valley. Walla Walla's student athletes were grouped with members of other teams from within our program, and were able to create a deeper connection with fellow athletes while assisting our community.

The idea of an athlete lead service day was first suggested in the Wolves Student-Athlete Advisory Committee meetings.  From there, Manager of Student Employment and assistant Softball Coach, Heidi Lindstrom, contacted people in the community and coordinated all of the service projects.  The Wolves went to more than 12 locations on Friday and participated in doing yard work, cleaning, and painting for people and non-profit organizations around College Place and Walla Walla.

Over 40 athletes and coaches participated on Friday, with members of every team getting involved.  When groups finished their projects, instead of ending their day, they moved to different locations to assist others in completing their work as well.

The Wolves have started a new tradition of service that will continue in the future, and we cannot wait to see the projects they will help with next.
