PORTLAND, Ore. — The Walla Walla Golf teams returned to action with their first tournament play of 2026.
The Wolves are participating in the final Cascade Conference regular season tournament this week. Warner Pacific is hosting the Tournament of Knights at the par-73 Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, Ore. and the final round for both the men and the women will take place on Tuesday.
Women's Golf
Mariana Posada led the WWU Women's team with nine pars and finished her opening round with a 9-over 82. Posada finished the day in 11th place nine shots behind leader Jessica Ng who shot an even 73. The sophomore finished her day with three straight pars.
Ayelet Altalef had the lone birdie for the Wolves when she carded a three on No. 6, a par-4 hole. Atalef concluded Monday in a tie for 31st place after a round of 91.
Nell Dodds tied her teammate with a round of 91 with four pars on her card.
Emily Keel shot a round of 98 and is 37th place and
Hailey Werner is in 44th place after a round of 102.
Gianna Davidson, playing as an individual, shot a round of 100 and is tied for 39th place.
Walla Walla finished the opening round in eighth place with a team score of 362. The Wolves are four shots behind Corban for seventh place and 53 strokes behind No. 4 British Columbia. The Thunderbirds have an 11-shot lead over No. 22 Oregon Tech with one round to play.
Men's Golf
Eddie Tache had a strong opening round with a 2-under 71 with four birdies. The senior struggled down the stretch in his second round and completed the opening day in a tie for 20th place at 5-over through two rounds.
Jack MacLachlan carded three birdies, including his final hole, in an opening round 76, but was unable to score a birdie in his second round and finished the day in a tie for 45th place at 14-over 160.
Andrew Payne tied MacLachlan after rounds of 79 and 81. Noah Devaphalin finished the day at 161,
Isaac Sheu completed the two rounds with a total score of 163.
Max Pena, playing as an individual, is in 52nd place at 168.
The Wolves are 17 strokes behind College of Idaho for eighth place and 48 shots behind No. 16 British Columbia for the overall lead. The Thunderbirds will take a three-stroke lead over (RV) Lewis-Clark State into the final round.
