Friday afternoon, Walla Walla University's men's basketball team lost a close game to Northwest University.

The final score was 73-70, with Northwest taking the advantage and moving on to a 4-2 record, while the Wolves fall to 0-8. Even though they didn't get the victory today, this has to be an encouraging performance for WWU.

Senior guard, Tyreek Luckett played one of his best games on the season, posting a team high 24 points and five assists. Another solid performance came from Luke Spady, who had eight points, two steals and nine rebounds in 35 minutes of action.

The Wolves found themselves in a 15-5 deficit 10 minutes into the first half, but they were able to climb back and go into halftime down 34-32. The second half was closely contested, and even though WWU didn't shoot as well on three pointers (35%), as Northwest (54%) did – they were trailing by only three points with under a minute left on the clock.

However, Northwest was able to score on a layup and would go on to sink free throws to put the game away.

The Wolves will have this week to prepare for their next opponent, Central Washington University (Ellensburg, WA.) The game will be played Saturday evening at 6 p.m. in Ellensburg.
