Wolves control game vs New Hope

The Walla Walla University men's basketball game, won the second game of their weekend doubleheader against New Hope Christian College, 86-69.

The Wolves didn't quite get out to the early, big lead they had in Saturday evening's game, but were able to stay ahead due in large part to the inside success of Josh Hough. Hough backed down and put the moves on the New Hope post defender, got fouled and completed a three point play.

Following a New Hope technical foul, Walla Walla found themselves with a 19-12 lead.

The Wolves shot 40% from the field in the first half, compared to the 24% New Hope put up. WWU let up a little bit defensively before the half, but still went into the break leading 36-23.  Drives to the basket from point guard Tyreek Luckett were key to getting the offense going and creating open shots.

The open shots were very available when Walla Walla returned to play the second half of basketball. Jordan Underwood hit two three pointers and the team put together a 52% field goal percentage after the break to hang on for the easy win.

Ethan Osias led the Wolves with 18 points and six rebounds. Jordan Spady posted 16 points, and Josh Hough added 11 points and nine rebounds.

This was a strong way to close out the campaign for a squad that got off to a slow start on the season. Winning four of their final five games, Walla Walla will look to put in the work over the summer, so when they return next year, they can be competitive in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
