Blues Too Much for Wolves

College Place, Wash. –The high octane attack of Whitman proved to be too much for Walla Walla, as the Blues jumped out to a 37-7 lead over the Wolves and never looked back.  Whitman had five players reach double-figures and led 62-29 at halftime on the way to a 116-78 win over Walla Walla. 
 
Whitman's pressing style had an effect early on Walla Walla, as they forced the Wolves into 18 first-half turnovers.  Whitman's Joey Hewitt had a big first half with 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting.  Walla Walla's Alijiah Robinson was efficient, scoring 8 points on 4 of 5 shooting in the half.  Despite some turnovers, Roy Zavala had six assists in the half and Wesley Burked had 8 points. 
 
Whitman picked up right where they left off in the second half forcing tempo and attacking the basket.  Whitman's Darne Duckett had 13 second-half points on 5 of 7 shooting, including making a trio of three-pointers.  Walla Walla scored 49 points in the half but were not able to close the gap on the Blues as they lost 116-78.
 
Walla Walla's leading scorer was Welsey Burke, who finished with 18 points.  Roy Zavala had 15 points and 10 assists, and Alijiah Robinson had 10 points and 6 rebounds.  Joey Hewitt led the Blues with 27 points and 7 steals. 
 
The Wolves play Central Washington University on Saturday night, November 25.  Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
