Men’s Basketball: Wolves Cannot Contain Yotes

Caldwell, Idaho – The Wolves took on conference opponent College of Idaho (22-8, 15-5) this evening. Walla Walla hung close for the majority of the first half, but were unable hold back the Yotes, losing 101-63.

By the Numbers

Alec Calloway led the Wolves in scoring with 15 points, two other Walla Walla players reached double figures
Ethan Osias had 5 assists to lead the Wolves, by Yotes guard Emanuel Morgan lead all players with 17 assists
Dylan Browning recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds
College of Idaho assisted on 25 of their 39 made field goals and three players scoring 20+ points

How it Happened
The first time these two teams played in early December, Walla Walla was unable to get into their offense at all the first 10 minutes of the game. Tonight with just over nine minutes left to play in the first half, Ethan Osias hit a three pointer to tie the score up 24-24. Early in the game, the Wolves were scrappy hard, getting rebounds and sharing the ball well. Unfortunately for Walla Walla, Emanuel Morgan was dealing tonight, and had 17 assists for College of Idaho. The inside presents of the Yotes made a big difference in the game. Starting post player, Joey Nebeker had 33 points, shooting 59% from the field and make 6 three pointers. After allowing the Wolves to tie the game, College of Idaho went +16 the rest of the half and took a 52-36 lead into halftime. The Wolves opened the second half with six quick points, topped off with a jumper from Alec Calloway. The Yotes picked up their game and pushed their lead up to 20 points over the next four minutes. Walla Walla was not able to make another run to get within striking distance, and lost the game 101-63.
