The Breakdown

The Hustlin' Owls have looked good so far in conference play, amassing a 5-2 conference record so far.  On Tuesday night, they defeated conference rival Southern Oregon, 88-73.  The Owls play fast and share the ball extremely well, ranking sixth in the country for assists per game, and 19th in the country in in scoring per game, scoring just over 87 points on average.  Their floor leader is Mitchell Fink, who is averaging 19 points and nearly 8 assists per contest.  On defense, they rebound the ball well and get into the passing lanes, averaging 7.5 steals per game.  The Owl's only two conference losses are against the two top-ranked teams in the conference, Warner Pacific and the College of Idaho.  Walla Walla has been shooting the ball well from deep, ranking 24th in the country in made 3s this season.  That shooting will come in handy against the Owls this weekend.

The Breakdown

Oregon Tech has a record of 10-7 overall and is 3-4 in conference play, after a close loss to #11 Southern Oregon.  The Hustlin' Owls are a great offensive rebounding team, pulling down 14 per game, and almost 44 total rebounds per game.  They rebound by committee, with five players averaging more than four rebounds per game.  They follow that up with an oppressive defense that is only giving up 65 points per game, good enough for the fifth-ranked scoring defense in the Cascade Conference.  Nohea Waiwaiole is the Swiss army knife for this team. She leads the team in points, rebounds, and assists.  She brings the ball up the floor and is an extremely effective high post player.  When she isn't scoring, she is crashing the boards hard on both ends and often leads the break after a rebound.  Walla Walla has been creeping up the national rankings in terms of free throw percentage, currently ranking 37th nationally (72%).  Walla Walla will need to convert their opportunities this weekend against the tough play of the Hustlin' Owls.
