Chariah Daniels surpassed the 1,000 point milestone as the Walla Walla Women's Basketball team kept its playoff hopes alive with an 84-73 victory over Multnomah in a Cascade Conference game at Windemuth Court on Friday.
The win improved the Walla Walla record to 6-15 overall and 3-12 in CCC action.
"Really proud of this team and their energy and effort," Walla Walla coach Tony Nakashima said. "We executed offensively and made some good defensive plays. We got to build on this and keep moving forward."
Daniels had 11 points to push her career total to 1,002 points. The senior became the third Wolves' woman to reach that milestone since Walla Walla joined the NAIA in 2009. Carolina Montes has the all-time record with 1,495 points and Lauren Pernu finished with 1,404 points.
Natalee Trevino led the Wolves with 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting, she also had six rebounds.
Sidney Folkenberg and
Allison Haslam had 11 points each.
Mireyah Lopez and Folkenberg led WWU with seven rebounds each.
Jaylo Bello had five 3-pointers to push her season total to 53, third all-time for a single season 3-point total.
Jaliyah Casem had 54 made 3s in 2022-23 and Isabella Robles has the record with 67 converted in 2019-20.
The Wolves were 10-of-17 from the 3-point line and 20-of-28 from the free throw line. Walla Walla outrebounded Multnomah 39-28 and forced 16 turnovers.
Jersey Huerta, the leading scorer in the Cascade Conference, had 27 points. Leiah Naeata added 16 points and Ellie Robertson finished with 10.
The Lions shot 29-of-66 (43.9%) from the field and were successful at the charity stripe going 12-of-13.
The loss dropped Multnomah's record to 6-15 overall and 4-11 in conference play.
