COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — The Walla Walla Men's Volleyball team has a familiar face at the head of its program as Greg Rogers has returned to coach the Wolves this season.

"This team has a good combination of senior veterans who deserve to make the most of their final year, and new players who are eager to learn," Rogers said. "Coaching is an incredibly fulfilling and fun role if done correctly."

Rogers coached WWU Men's Volleyball at the club level from 2011 to 2020 before COVID and then started a family. The returning coach is a physical therapist with an outpatient clinic in Walla Walla.

Before he transitioned to a coaching role, Rogers played at Walla Walla University when the program was part of the National Christian College Athletic Association. Rogers continued to play volleyball after he moved to California and brought his love of the sport back to College Place when he returned in 2011.

"I remember coaches in my past, players I took the court with - there were some really great people and great times there and now I get to help current students create similar memories," Rogers said. "Volleyball can teach us a lot more than just technique and strategy. The mental game is critical and there are many life lessons to be learned on the volleyball court."

Walla Walla is set to open the 2026 season on Friday, February 13 at 2 p.m. in the first of three meetings with Pacific Union College over a three-day span. The Wolves will participate in the California Pacific Conference in the NAIA for the first time this season and currently have an eight-game schedule.

WWU will host PUC in three games from Feb. 13-15 before traveling down to California to play five matches in three days. The Wolves will play Westcliff on March 4 in their first CalPac game in program history. Walla Walla will then take part in the CalPac Jamboree and play Pacific Union, Westcliff and Simpson on March 5 in three conference matches. The Wolves will wrap up the trip with another conference match against Simpson on March 6. The CalPac Championship Tournament will be held on April 15-18 in California.
