The Walla Walla University men's basketball team traveled to the College of Idaho over the weekend, to compete in the Taco Bell shootout.

The field for this early season tournament, featured WWU, Arizona Christian University, and two teams from the Cascade Collegiate Conference – Eastern Oregon University, and the host College of Idaho. The latter two, would be the teams Walla Walla would compete against.

The Wolves matched up against Eastern Oregon on Friday afternoon, before facing the College of Idaho Saturday night.

On Friday, Walla Walla lost 87-57 to EOU in a game they fell behind in the first half. Jordan and Luke Spady led the team in scoring, with 20 and 16 points, respectively. On the other side, five players from EOU scored double digit points. The most coming from Bryan McGriff, with 20.
Eastern Oregon shot 48% from three point range, while the Wolves didn't fare as well, only connecting on 23% of the shots from deep. WWU rebounded well in this game, led by eight rebounds coming from Tyreek Luckett. The Wolves only finished with three fewer rebounds then EOU, but looking at offensive rebounds specifically, WWU was outscored on resulting second chance points 19-7.

Saturday evening, Walla Walla's tough luck continued, when they lost to College of Idaho 91-59. It was a similar story as far as first half scoring was concerned. The Wolves found themselves with a 25-48 deficit on their hands as they entered the break. Despite a stronger second half, they were unable to narrow the gap.

Luke Spady played well in 38 minutes of action, he finished with a game high 25 points, as well as a team high, nine rebounds.

Points off of turnovers really hurt the Wolves in this one. 28 of the opposing teams' points came off WWU turnovers. The Wolves turned the ball over 22 times compared to the nine times College of Idaho committed a turnover.

Walla Walla will continue to look to gain from the experience of playing in these games. The Wolves next scheduled game is against Eastern Washington University (Cheney, WA.) Wednesday, Nov. 19.
