C of I Gets Hot in Second Half to Down WW 98-55

CALDWELL, Idaho – Draining 10-straight 3-pointers early in the second half, the College of Idaho used a dynamic 64-15 run spanning the two halves to down Walla Walla, 98-55, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
 
Point-guard Emanuel Morgan hit four triples – including 3-in-a-row early in the second half – part of a career night, scoring 22 points with 10 rebounds and seven assists.
 
The Wolves (2-6, 0-2 CCC) had control of the game early, making six of their first eight 3-point attempts, as treys from Andrew Ney, Ethan Osias and Spencer Woodworth fueled a 12-0 run that gave the Cascade Conference newcomers a 25-17 lead with 10 minutes left in the half.
 
Morgan started the Yotes (7-4, 2-0) rally with a 3-point play, with back-to-back Dominic Hulsey buckets cutting the gap to 27-24.  Three-straight Marck Coffin baskets and a Curtis Brever triple gave the Yotes a lead they would not relinquish.
 
Leading 35-33 at the break, C of I was in a zone over the first 10 minutes of the second half.  After missing their first 3-point attempt, Morgan splashed a triple, with Dominique Jordan and Aitor Zubizarreta canning treys, to give the Yotes a 44-33 lead.  Morgan would hit 3's on the next three possessions, Zubizarreta and Jordan added long-balls to extend the margin to 59-37, with two additional Jordan 3's – the ninth and tenth in a row by the Yotes, giving the hosts a 69-40 lead with 12 minutes left.
 
In all, the Yotes made 21 3-pointers on the night, including 17-of-25 in the second half – outscoring WWU 63-22 after the break.
 
Jordan scored a career-high 19 points with Zubizarreta scoring 17 – as both players went 5-of-9 from outside the arc.  Coffin had 10 points, nine rebounds and five assists, with Trevor Thomas scoring a career-high nine points, including 3-of-4 shooting from long range.  C of I had 29 assists and 37 made baskets.
 
Joey Inman came off the bench to score 15 points and 6 rebounds for the Wolves, with post Josh Hough scoring 10 points to go with his 6 rebounds. Ethan Osias added 9 points and 4 rebounds.
 
The Wolves host Whitman College on Wednesday then face Lewis-Clark State College on Saturday night.
