Lewiston, Idaho – With just under eight minutes to go in the first half,
Michael Isotalo hit
Alec Calloway for a jumper to put Walla Walla with in six points of the #24 ranked Warriors. Lewis-Clark State College responded quickly and by the time the first half ended, they had built their lead to 16. The Wolves could not recover in the second half and lost to the Warriors in their season opener.
In the first half, Lewis-Clark jumped out to an early lead behind the shooting of guard, Cordel Hankerson. He would finish with 23 points on 14 shots for the Warriors. Walla Walla was down as much as 11 points before rally behind the inside presence of
Alijiah Robinson and
Jacob Vargas got them back in the game. However, turnovers for the Wolves and hot shooting from the Warriors proved to be too much and the Wolves got down double digits once again going into halftime.
At the start of the second half, the Warriors got their offense going quickly, going on a 21-3 run over the first 8 minutes of the half. The Wolves were not able to close the gap and went on to lose the game 95-65 to Lewis-Clark.
Josh Hager led the Wolves in scoring with 17 points,
Roy Zavala led the team in assists with eight, and
Alijiah Robinson was the leading rebounder with six. Walla Walla shot nearly 36% from the three-point line, and had finished with five players score at least seven points. Walla Walla is off now until November 10, when they host New Hope Christian College.
