Box Score Paul Starkebaum, Sports Information Director

Kirkland, Wash. – The Wolves made their trip to the Seattle area this weekend and tonight they were in Kirkland, Wash. to take on the Eagles of Northwest University (18-8, 10-8).  Walla Walla (3-21, 2-14) was tasked with keeping up with the fast paced Eagles.  The Wolves lost to the Eagles 79-110 in a high scoring affair.

By the Numbers
  • Chad Torkelsen led the Wolves in scoring with 25 points, including 5 three-pointers
  • Dak Shagren led all scorers with 26 points, one of three Eagles with over 20 points
  • Northwest University shot 50% from beyond the three-point line, making 15 total for the game
  • The Wolves shot 48% from the field
How It happened
Ben Tucakovic buried a three-pointer for Northwest University for the first points of the game.  About a minute later Ethan Osias hit a jumper to score the first two points of the game for the Wolves to make it 5-2 in favor of the Eagles.  Both teams shot over 44% from the field in the first half but the big factor early was offensive rebounds and live ball turnovers which gave extra possessions to the Eagles.  Chad Torkelsen was hot early for Walla Walla, he  scored 15 points, including three triples as the Wolves attempt to keep pace with Northwest.  It seemed like every time the Wolves started to turn the momentum, the Eagles had an answer.  The second half saw Northwest University continue their high scoring ways.  A little under 18 minutes remaining in the game, Ben Tucakvoic and Michael Dupree went back-to-back from deep to stretch the lead to 27 points.  Despite being down big for the last 10 minutes, Walla Walla continued to push the ball and make an effort to get back into the game. With just under 30 seconds in the game Trent Torkelsen drove the distance of the made a layup as he was fouled to give the Wolves their last bucker of the game in a 79-110 loss to Northwest University.
