How It Happened
Dylan Browning hit a jumper from just inside the elbow and put Walla Walla up 2-0 to open the game.  The Mountaineers leading scorer, Bryan McGriff, answered on the next possession with a corner three to take back the lead for Eastern Oregon.  The Mountaineers needed to win today for a chance at finishing in second place in the conference today, and despite a below average shooting day for the Eastern, they made up for it with effort.  Kentrell Washington made life tough today for Walla Walla by putting himself in position to grab offensive rebounds.  The Wolves defense was very active and despite forcing Eastern Oregon to miss many shots from deep, Walla Walla could not keep them off the glass.  The Wolves got down 22-12 in the middle of the first half but stormed back with a 13-4 run to cut the lead to one points, topped off by a three-pointer from Alex Calloway.  Freshman Max McCullough had the answer for the Mountaineers had hit a three to spark an 8-0 run.  From that point on the Wolves never got back within striking range.  Walla Walla made several small runs, and Ethan Oasis made several hustle plays that resulted in points for the Wolves, but it was not enough to get the lead back under 10 points.  With just over a minute left in the game, Dylan Browning scored his 14th point of the game, and the last basket for the Wolves as they lost 97-75 to the Mountaineers.
