Beacons Take Victory in Back and Forth Battle

College Place, Wash. – Today the Wolves faced the Beacons in a back and forth battle that left viewers on the edge of their seats.
 
Walla Walla started off with the lead after a layup by Wesley Burke. With seventeen minutes left in the game Michael Loomis shot three-pointer and layup for the Beacons, putting them ahead 5-2. A three-pointer by Burke brought the Wolves back into the lead, 6-5 with fifteen minutes left. A back and forth battle ensued and a three-pointer from Michael Loomis with thirteen minutes left put Northwest ahead 15-12. With eight minutes left the teams were tied 19-19, and a three-pointer from Tyrus Hosley broke the barrier. With five minutes left Dylan Browning had a three-pointer for Walla Walla, and the game was tied 24-24. The back and forth battle between the teams continued, and with just under three minutes left the teams were tied at 29-29. Northwest began to pull ahead after Austin Tyler bridged the tie with a three-pointer, Davonte Cleveland followed with a layup, and Loomis banked a three-pointer. The Beacons now had a nine point lead, 37-29. A free-throw from Burke took Walla Walla into the second half down 37-30.
 
Burke had the first play of the half once again with a three-pointer for the Wolves, and it was a four-point game 37-33. With seventeen minutes left Reece Robinson had a three-pointer for the Beacons, and it returned to a nine-point game. The gap continued to grow, and the Beacons were up 54-39 with fourteen minutes left in the game after a layup by Loomis. Reece had a layup with ten minutes left in the game, and the difference grew to 64-43. With seven minutes left in the game, back to back three-pointers and a layup from Burke brought momentum to the court for Walla Walla 69-60. Browning followed with a three-pointer for the Wolves, and the team was only down by six 69-63. With two minutes left in the game Tyrus Hosley had two free throws for Northwest. Browning followed with a layup for the Wolves, but Walla Walla was not able to come back for the win and the Beacons won 74-69.
 
Northwest's leaders were Michael Loomis with 25 points and 18 rebounds and Davonte Cleveland with 15 points. Walla Walla was led by Wesley Burke with 26 points and 4 rebounds and Dylan Browning with 20 points and 7 rebounds.
