Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — The Walla Walla Wolves had a bittersweet end to their season Sunday afternoon, where they lost to the Bushnell Beacons 2-0.
It was a cold, chilly day in College Place, but the Beacons and the Wolves brought the heat, fighting for the win—especially Walla Walla's seniors Diego Molina, Davis Nordby, Colebren Schoenleber, Nyasha Pazvakawambwa, and Ben Hewett. Despite Walla Walla's attempts, Bushnell pulled through, coming out on top, with 2 goals out of their 12 shots.
One person that has impacted men' soccer and has left behind some big cleats to fill is senior goalkeeper Diego Molina. Molina has started in almost every game since 2021 and has over 3,100 minutes. Diego leaves behind a legacy, with over 280 saves, and an average of .588% in saves over his three years at Walla Walla University. In today's match, he had three saves, out of a total of 12 shots from Bushnell that kept him on his toes.
As for senior Ben Hewett, he had three shots for the match, followed by senior Davis Nordby who had two. Seniors Colebren Schoenleber and Nyasha Pazvakawambwa tied with one shot apiece. With this, every senior was able to get on the stat sheet for their final game of their collegiate career.
For the Beacons, Caleb Premo scored their first goal within six minutes of the match starting and was assisted by Jay Jay Van Der Veld. Jay Jay Van Der Veld had another assist for the match, with the help of Walter Reustle, both of whom assisted Omar Rodriguez as he scored the Beacons second goal in the 71st minute.
While the match did not go in the Wolves' favor, their hard work and determination was shown throughout this season. Congratulations to our seniors as they graduate and go on new adventures.
