Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. — For the first time since 2019, Walla Walla Men's Soccer has won back-to-back games with a 2-1 victory over Northwest (Wash.) in a Cascade Conference game on Sunday.
The last time that the Wolves (3-5, 3-5) won two straight games in a row, you have to go back to the first two games of the 2019 season when WWU defeated California Maritime Academy and Pacific Union College. The three wins for Walla Walla this year are also tied with 2019 for most in program history since the Wolves joined the CCC in 2015.
Northwest scored late to get within one goal, but dropped to 3-7-4 overall and 0-6-3 in conference play.
The first half went by with neither team able to find a mark on the scoreboard.
Juan Lobos broke the tie with a goal in the 70th minute, his third goal of the season. Javier Stambullian followed with his first goal of the season seven minutes later. Matthew Ludlow got the Eagles on the board in the 88th minute, but did not get another shot off the rest of the game.
The victory moved Walla Walla to nine points in conference play and into 10th place. The Wolves are one point behind both Oregon Tech and Providence who are currently tied for the final playoff spot with two weekends remaining in the regular season.
