WWU Women’s Golf outduels Columbia Basin, Men finish 2nd at Walla Walla Invite

WALLA WALLA, Wash.Mariana Posada held on to third place and Nell Dodds had one of the best rounds of the day and led the Walla Walla Women's Golf team to a duel victory over Columbia Basin on the final day of the Walla Walla Invitational at the Wine Valley Golf Club on Monday.

All five team golfers for the WWU Men's team shot 75 or better and finished in second in the three team tournament. Neither tournament is a team scoring event.

Posada shot an 11-over 85 on Monday, but was able to maintain her third place finish after a strong opening round. Posada finished nine strokes behind winner Adri Ruffing of Columbia Basin. Nell Dodds had four birdies on the day including 3-of-4 from Nos. 4-7. Dodds tied for the second-best round of the day with an 80.

Emily Keel improved by four strokes from her round on Sunday with an 85. Hailey Werner (88) and Raegan Boyse (89) also improved in their second round.

Max Pena was 1-under through his first nine holes (the tournament started on the back nine) and closed out the tournament with a 3-over 75 and took third place, six strokes behind winner Jesus Castaneda of Columbia Basin. Andrew Kuljis bounced back after starting 3-over after the first four holes with 13 pars and a birdie for a 74 and took fifth place.

Joshua Tan had four birdies in his 1-over 73 round. Eddie Tache and Braiden Ermshar both matched Tan with a final round of 73.
