CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Walla Walla Women's Volleyball team earned the spotlight with two straight set upset victories over two teams who earned national recognition in the latest NAIA coaches poll. With that spotlight, the Wolves were named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Sept. 1-7, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Walla Walla started the weekend with a straight set win over (RV) Oregon Tech (25-10, 25-19, 29-27) and closed it out with a sweep of No. 19 Southern Oregon (25-13, 25-16, 25-22). The Wolves had never earned a victory against either school coming into the weekend, going a combined 0-40. The two wins improved the WWU record to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in CCC play.
"Receiving this honor is something we've only dreamed about," coach
Kiana Krumm said. "The hard work, sweat and tears that my team put into last season and this season is finally paying off. I can feel our collective love for the game and support for one another on and off the court. As a coach, I couldn't be more proud."
