KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On Wednesday, July 31st, Walla Walla University Athletics was named an NAIA Champions of Character Five Star Award Winner at the Gold level. Walla Walla was one out of 131 schools to earn Gold status and one out of 209 to receive this honor.

To become a Champions of Character Institution, institutions are measured on a demonstrated commitment to Champions of Character and earn points in character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion. Institutions earned points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year.

Walla Walla earned a perfect score of 100 points on the Champions of Character scorecard, which is the first time in program history.

Athletic Director Nestor Osorio is proud of each team's efforts to make this happen. "After months of multiple community service initiatives, sportsmanship awards, and no red cards, or ejections, our program achieved the Champions of Character Five Star Award at the Gold status for the first time ever with a perfect score of 100/100 possible points. There were also countless efforts to continue our academic excellence with an overall program GPA of 3.17."

Congratulations to Wolves Athletics on this historic award. Make sure to stay up to date on all things Wolves Athletics at uwovles.com and @theuwolves on Instagram.
